It seems like everyone  we know has watched (or embraced) Marie Kondo in Tidying Up on her new Netflix show. Her KonMarie method for organizing has taken the country by storm, and with good reason. We all seem to have a lot of "stuff" and it can get stressful to keep everything organized. Whether you love her methods or not, I think we're all working toward our our spring cleaning checklist.  So today we're bringing you the Real Estate Firm's list - let's call it The REFirm method. ;)

THE  REAL ESTATE FIRM PRESENTS 
Spring Cleaning Checklist

Overall Chores:
  •  Dust Crown Moldings and Baseboards
  • Dust Ceiling Corners & all blinds
  • Dust all light fixtures and ceiling fans
  • Wipe down all doors and walls
  • Touch up paint
  • Vacuum or wash all curtains
  • Clean all windows
  • Dust bookshelves
  • Dust/Polish/Vacuum all furniture
  • Deep clean/vacuum hardwood, tile, linoleum, and carpet flooring
  • Shampoo carpets, if needed
  • Remove rugs to shake them out and sweep under them
  • Wipe/Dust all mirrors, pictures, and wall hangings
  • Replace burned out light bulbs
  • Change the air/furnace filter
  • Replace the smoke detector/carbon monoxide batteries
  • Schedule chimney sweep
  • Schedule any needed maintenance 

Kitchen Chores:
  • Removing anything from the kitchen that doesn’t belong
  • Clean and disinfect the trash can
  • Clean all of the appliances
  • Replace the water filter on the refrigerator
  • Vacuum the back and behind the refrigerator
  • Clean oven hood vent and change filter if needed. 
  • Disinfect the garbage disposal
  • Organize your tupperware
  • Reorganize messy or frustrating cabinets 
  • Organize kitchen drawers and wipe them out
  • Get rid of unnecessary dishes, cups, mugs, bowls, and supplies. 
  • Deep clean and organize pots, pans, and bakeware
  • Organize the pantry
  • Sanitizing cutting boards and sharpen knives
  • Clean and disinfect the small appliances
  • Check the dates on herbs and spices, and get rid of the expired
  •  Clean out the cabinet under the sink
  • Wipe down cabinet doors 
  • Clean tile and touch up paint on walls
  • Deep clean floors 
  • Disinfect all door knobs, light fixtures, and cabinet and drawer pulls 
  • Set up a meal plan

Dining Room Chores:
  • Eliminate the unnecessary items 
  • Scrub walls down and touch up paint 
  • Disinfect light switches and outlets 
  • Dust all cabinets 
  • Dust and clean windows, inside and out 
  • Clean and declutter hutch cabinets and drawers 
  • Wash all table linens 
  • Wash table cushions 
  • Clean light fixtures 
  • Disinfect table and wipe down all chairs including the legs
  • Remove rug, shake, vacuum and clean the floor before replacing the rug. 

Bathroom Chores:
  • Clean air vents 
  • Disinfect light switches and fixtures
  • Disinfect toothbrush holder 
  • Refill soap/lotion bottles 
  • Clean light fixtures
  • Clean makeup brushes
  • Clean mirror
  • Clean out the shower caddy
  • Wash the shower curtain and replace liner
  • Deep clean the shower
  • Clean shower glass if you have glass 
  • Disinfect the countertops 
  • Dust and clean windows, inside and out 
  • Polish the faucets 
  • Mop and clean flooring and moldings 
  • Scrub and disinfect the toilet, including around the base, under the seat and around the hinges. 
  • Scrub down walls and touch up paint 
  • Wash floor mats
  • Wash hand towels 
  • Wash the trash can, inside and out 
  • Wipe down the cabinets, knobs, towel rods, and toilet paper holder
  • Remove rust from toilet seat screws
  • Tighten toilet seat hinges 
  • Clean exhaust fan 
  • Clean/Replace shower head 
  • Caulk around bathtub, if needed 
  • Unclog drains
  • Toss beauty products that haven’t been used in a year, or expired makeup 
  • Clean out, declutter, and disinfect inside drawers and cabinets 
  • Clean, organize, and declutter bathroom linen closet. 

Laundry/Utility Room Chores:
  • Clean dryer vent 
  • Clean inside of the washing machine and dryer
  • Empty washing machine drain pump
  • Dust the crown molding, wall corners and floor moldings 
  • Dust behind and underneath the washer and dryer
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Mop floors
  • Wash walls and touch up paint
  • Clean and organize shelving and remove the unnecessary items 
  • Install organizers to hold cleaning products 
  • Disinfect door knobs, and light switches

Living Room/Family Room Chores:
  • Remove items that don’t belong in this area 
  • dust the crown molding, wall corners, and floor moldings 
  • vacuum and shampooing the carpet
  • vacuum under furniture and in between cushions 
  • Condition leather furniture 
  • Dust ceiling fans 
  • Switch ceiling fans to spin clockwise
  • Clean light fixtures
  • Dust lamps and vacuum lampshades
  • Declutter areas that have clutter
  • Dust bookshelves
  • Dust wall hangings, mirrors, and pictures
  • Clean windows and window sills
  • Wipe down doors and moldings
  • Disinfect door knobs and light switches
  • Dust the electronics
  • Organize electronics and accessories, and cords
  • Disinfect the remote controls and gaming equipment 

Bedroom Chores:
  • Remove anything that doesn’t belong out of the bedroom and take it to where it belongs
  • Duct ceiling, corners, crown moldings and floor molding 
  • Clean windows and window sills 
  • Dust furniture
  • Dust wall hangings, mirrors, and pictures
  • Clean glass and mirrors
  • Dust light fixtures, and vacuum lamp shades
  • Wash, fold laundry, and put away
  • Organize your closet 
  • Switch seasonal clothing and donate unneeded items 
  • Clean and organize your dresser
  • Clean and organize your nightstand
  • Flip and rotate your mattress
  • Clean your mattress
  • Clean under your bed 
  • Wash and replace bedsheets 
  • Wash pillows 
  • Vacuum carpet, including under furniture
  • Shampoo carpet
  • Wipe down doors and walls, and touch up paint
  • Disinfect door knobs and light switches

Kid Stuff Chores:
  • Sort and organize kids toys
  • Donate unused toys 
  • Clean and scrub toys, gaming equipment, and stuffed animals 
  • Clean and organize clothing that they’ve outgrown. Store for other children in the family, or donate them. 
  • Clean bath toys 

Office/Command Center Chores:
  • Go through paperwork. Organize what stays, and remove things you don’t need. 
  • Clean out files and and shred the unneeded documents 
  • Update home inventory documents 
  • Review Insurance Policies 
  • Check credit report
  • Clean your computer, keyboard, and mouse
  • Clean and organize desk and drawers
  • Dust desk and wipe down chair
  • Dust bookshelves 

Miscellaneous Chores:
  • Deep clean your purse and bags
  • Disinfect your cell phone and other electronic devices
  • Disinfect remote controls
  • Clean keys
  • Clean pet dishes
  • Clean out expired medications and vitamins 

Outside Chores:
  • Sweep and power wash deck, repaint/re-stain if needed
  • Power wash and re-stain wooden fence. 
  • Power wash siding and make repairs
  • Touch up paint trim, wood, doors, and shutters 
  • Power wash garage door
  • Clean outside door frames and touch up with paint
  • Wipe away the cobwebs
  • Shake out the entry mat
  • Clean the grill
  • Clean and repair gutters
  • Replace broken bricks, wood, or stone
  • Clean outdoor light fixtures and replace if needed 
  • Replace burned out light bulbs 
  • Wash windows 
  • Clean outside patio furniture
  • Trim trees, bushes, and shrubbery 
  • Check and repair sprinklers 
  • Inspect roof shingles
  • Plant flowers
  • Add and refresh the mulch in flower beds
  • Clean outdoor trash cans 
  • Clean out the garage 
  • Wash vehicles
